Mountain Pine Beetles
The mountain pine beetle is native to the forests of the West.  The beetles usually attack older and weaker trees in normal population levels.  In the current epidemic levels, the beetles are attacking all green trees with no restriction on size or health. We have seen successful mountain pine beetle attacks on trees as small as 2 inches in diameter.  We have also witnessed successful mountain pine beetle attacks in blue and engleman spruce trees.
