Practicing proper Siviculture techniques is the best long term treatment against MPB.  The current unhealthy state of the western forests has contributed to the current MPB epidemic.  Any effort to increase the health of the forest will pay off in the long run to increase the forest’s natural resistance to insects, disease and wildfire.  Read more about improving forest health.
