Strategies For Proper Forest Management
TigerTree Land Management embraces a holistic strategy when approaching forest health improvement. Considering all environmental factors ensures we are not creating more problems while solving another. We utilize low impact machinery that leaves your property looking great when we have completed the job.

Many forests in the west have gone unmanaged for many years. Wildfire is nature’s way of thinning the forest to encourage new growth. With the introduction of human presence in the forested landscapes we are very weary of wildfire and for good reason. Without wildfire we need to be good stewards of the land and manage the forest ourselves. Selective thinning is the most effective resource available to improve the forest’s overall health.

Many factors must be considered when thinning trees in any environment. We take into consideration vegetation and soil types, erosion issues, wildlife habitat, drainage and access. Thinning the dead, dying and weak trees out of the forest stand increases available water, sun and nutrients for the residual trees, improving their overall health.
Aspens
Worried about your Aspen stand?  Read more about Sudden Aspen Decline.  Although, much research is still occurring about what best to do, to fight Sudden Aspen Decline, many professionals and experts are recommending stand manipulation (burning or cutting) to reinvigorate the root system.  This should be done before the root system becomes to weak to go through sprouting.  Aspens are an essential component for wildlife habitat, biodiversity, and the natural beauty of our Rocky Mountain landscape.  How are your Aspen stands doing?
